What you need to know
Usually, a developer or publisher showing up to the Game Awards has one or two reveals to share.
Sega eschewed that notion entirely, completely snapping and sharing several new game revivals during theGame Awards 2023. This list of upcoming titles includes a new Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, and more. You can take a look at the announcement trailer below:

All of these appear to be part of the same “Next Level” project at Sega, implying these revivals are all connected in some capacity. We heard back in April 2022that Sega was working on revivals of Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi, which has clearly panned out to be correct, so it’ll be interesting to see exactly how the publisher is working on these revivals.
Earlier in the year,Sega also announced layoffs at Creative Assembly, cancelling the upcoming live service shooter Hyenas as part of a shift in overall strategy.
Analysis: An impressive display
Obviously we’ll have to wait and see exactly how these revivals pan out, but I really admire how Sega announced these games all together. Hopefully we won’t be waiting too long to learn more about each of the projects.
