The first major update forDiablo 4since its launch earlier this month is finally here, and it’s a huge one. As previously advertised during a developer livestream a week and a half ago, patch 1.0.3 includes a wide variety of quality of life changes, bug fixes, and exciting buffs for each of the game’s five classes.

One big focus of this update was increasing the experience that players are able to earn while grinding endgame Diablo 4 activities likeNightmare Dungeonsand Helltides. Killing monsters and completing Nightmare Dungeons will now provide significantly more XP than it did before, and opened Helltide chests and completed Tree of Whisper bounties are more rewarding, too. Blizzard also notes that roaming bosses in Helltide zones will start dropping high quality loot more consistently, so make sure you take them down when you come across them.

Another fantastic change in this patch is the ability to fast travel directly to the entrance of a Nightmare Dungeon once you’ve activated it with a Nightmare Sigil. Previously, you could only fast travel to a town or city closest to your dungeon and had to hoof it the rest of the way, so this quality of life improvement will save endgame players tons of time.

EveryDiablo 4 classalso got some sizable buffs for their skills, with Blizzard primarily focusing on increasing the damage and utility of Basic Skills as well as talents that haven’t been as viable as other options. SeveralLegendary Aspectsand pieces of gear got some buffs, too, which will definitely make players frustrated with previous nerfs happy.

Developer’s Note:We are currently working on increasing the monster and elite density of end-game content and plan to introduce this change early in Season 1.

Balance Changes

Developer’s Note:We’re continuing our efforts to make all Class builds feel fun and powerful with another round of balance updates. In particular, we have seen community feedback stating that Basic Skills aren’t impactful enough in combat. These changes will not change the fundamental relationship between Basic Skills and Core Skills, but we hope that they help smooth out the leveling experience while we explore additional ways to strengthen them. We are also increasing the power of some Skills that players feel are lagging behind their peers. As we look forward to future updates, we’re monitoring other heavily discussed topics, such as Minion survivability and build parity. Please keep sending us your feedback, and we’ll see you in Sanctuary!
