Black Friday proper doesn’t kick off until November 29 this year, but retailers in the US and UK are already offering a handful of deals on Apple’sbest iPhones, which may as well be described as ‘early Black Friday iPhone 16 deals’.

In the US, for instance,Verizon is currently offering six months of Apple One and a whole iPad (yes, an iPad) for no extra cost with any iPhone 16 on an Ultimate Unlimited plan, while in the UK,Giffgaff will knock £50 off the price of the iPhone 16 when bought with a plan costing £10/mo or more.

Today’s best iPhone 16 deals in the US

iPhone 16:was $23.05nowfree with an unlimited plan, plus free iPad and Apple One at VerizonIf you’re looking for the standard iPhone 16, the good news is you don’t even need to trade in to get one for free right now at Verizon. Eligible with a new line on an Ultimate Unlimited plan, you’ll be saving a massive $829 on device costs here. In addition, Verizon is also throwing in six months of Apple One for free and aniPad 10.9(yes, a whole iPad). Note, however, that you will need to pay for the additional accessory cellular line ($10/mo) if you want to claim the free iPad here.

iPhone 16 Pro:was $27.77now$5/mo with an unlimited plan, plus free iPad and Apple One at VerizonIf you’re interested in the Pro models, you’ll also find great deals on the iPhone 16 Pro at Verizon right now. There are two options for getting a discount on the phone here; a new line on an Ultimate Unlimited plan will automatically drop the price to $5/mo, but you can also trade in for a maximum rebate of up to $1,000. The trade-in will effectively cover the entire cost of the device, and you can also bundle in that free iPad and get six months of Apple One (again, for free), as with the deal on the standard iPhone 16 above.

iPhone 16:up to $1,000 off with a trade-in at AT&TAT&T’s latest iPhone 16 deal offers excellent trade-in rebates of up to $1,000 off alongside an eligible unlimited data plan of $75.99/mo and up. Available for both new and existing customers, the trade-in criteria needed to get the full rebate is particularly generous at this carrier right now. According to the fine print, you’ll need a trade-in value of at least $180 to get either the excellentiPhone 16oriPhone 16 Profor free, or a significant discount on either theiPhone 16 PlusoriPhone 16 Pro Max.

iPhone 16 Pro:phone and unlimited data plan for $65/mo at Boost MobileOne of the best iPhone 16 deals on the market right now is the Boost Infinite Access for iPhone plan – an all-inclusive option at the prepaid carrier that bundles up a deviceandunlimited plan for just $65/mo. The device in question here is the excellent iPhone 16 Pro, so this is an exceptional deal overall if you’re happy to go with a more basic unlimited plan versus the usual options at the major carriers (see above). Other devices in the iPhone 16 range are also available with the Boost Infinite Access for iPhone plan, but you’ll have to pay a bit extra for the Pro Max in particular.

iPhone 16 series:one year of service free at Boost MobileBoost Mobile is also offering a full year of service for free with any of the latest iPhone 16 models. This particular deal is great for those simply looking to buy a device outright and it applies to the carrier’s entry-level $25/mo unlimited data plan for a total saving of $300. If you’d prefer to opt for a more premium plan, you can instead carry that saving over to the $50/mo Unlimited+ plan or the $60/mo Unlimited Premium plan, reducing the monthly cost significantly.

Today’s best iPhone 16 deals in the UK

iPhone 16:was £829 now£779 with a £10 (or more) plan at GiffgaffGiffgaff’s pre-Black Friday iPhone 16 promotion is rare in that it saves you money on the device itself, as well as on data (you’ll get extra data on various plans for no extra cost). To qualify for the £50 saving, you’ll just need to add a monthly plan costing £10 or more. You can also split the device cost over 36 months, so in theory, the best possible iPhone 16 deal here is £30.95/mo for 60GB of data with a £25 upfront payment.

iPhone 16 Pro:£44.99/mo for 500GB data at iD MobileCarphone Warehouse is currently offering a Black Friday deal on iD Mobile’s 24-month iPhone 16 Pro plan. For just £44.99/mo and £39 upfront, you’ll get a whopping 500GB of data, which is quintuple (5x) the usual 100GB offering. iD Mobile itself also hasvarious discounts on monthly plans, albeit with higher upfront fees than this Carphone Warehouse deal.

When will the Black Friday iPhone 16 deals start in 2024?

Black Friday proper falls on November 29 this year, but a handful of iPhone 16 deals are already beginning to appear at major carriers (they’re plan-related deals, rather than device-only savings). As for whether you should wait for better deals, a notable example of early Black Friday deals last year was Verizon’s early flash sale, which took place approximately one week ahead of the big day itself. While it’s too early to say whether major carriers will offer similar preview iPhone 16 deals this year, I’d recommend bookmarking this page and checking in for more updates.

Is Black Friday the best time to buy an iPhone 16?

In my opinion, the best time to buy an iPhone in general is usually during the initial pre-order period – right after the device has been unveiled. Carrier deals and Apple promotions tend to be strongest in this initial period because retailers are looking to encourage prospective upgraders and lock-in customers for another plan/product cycle.

That said, Black Friday will be a close second in terms of the overall best time to pick up an iPhone 16. November is another common month for upgraders, so you’ll definitely find great Black Friday iPhone 16 deals if you missed that initial pre-order period. Plus, who knows – we could even see a few surprise promotions aside from the usual trade-in rebates and free devices over Black Friday.

What Black Friday iPhone 16 deals should I expect?

First and foremost, the biggest discounts for the iPhone 16 over Black Friday will almost certainly revolve around some form of trade-in criteria. If you’re looking for an outright discount, expect to trade-in an old device at either Apple itself or one of the major carriers in both the US and UK. Unfortunately, this is the case with iPhone deals all year round but the savings can be significant if your old device is valued highly enough. For example, the usual maximum discounts of up to $1,000 / £650 can knock a significant chunk off the asking price for an iPhone 16.

While trade-ins are likely to be the mainstay of Black Friday iPhone 16 deals (indeed, these deals are already starting to appear), there are likely to be other promotions available at retailers. For example, Verizon has been experimenting with straight-up discounts for the iPhone 16 range alongside new unlimited data lines as well as the option to bundle in a free iPad and Apple Watch. These are superb deals, but the catch is obviously that you’ll need a line on the carrier’s pricey Ultimate Unlimited plan to be eligible.

Over in the UK, we expect a mix of trade-ins and contract discounts. Apple’s own Black Friday iPhone 16 deals probably won’t be that great – expect gift cards at most – but there should be good options at third-party retailers like Carphone Warehouse and Mobiles.co.uk. Major networks like Three, Vodafone, and O2 could potentially offer good discounts on tariffs over Black Friday, too, as well as better data allowances. Double data, for example, is a common freebie that networks love to throw in to entice people to switch providers.
